Moodie Davitt: ChõraClean lands contracts at Billund and Vágar airports through Blue

Non-ethanol-based disinfectant company ChõraClean has secured listings with Billund Airport in Denmark and Vágar Airport in the Faroe Islands. The two airports are now using ChõraClean’s biocide products on their fogging machines, which sanitise all airport surfaces including seating, counters and security trays.

In travel retail, ChõraClean is represented by travel retail agency Blue, which aims to expand the brand’s presence both in the travel retail and domestic channels.

ChõraClean was founded in 2017 by husband and wife duo Anne and Mikkel Bang Sommer. It offers a range of biodegradable disinfectants made with sustainable non-ethanol formulations. Its name was derived from the Greek word ‘Chōra,’ which means heart.

ChōraClean offers a wide range of biocide and non-ethanol-based disinfectant products

ChōraClean’s full range includes the Disinfect, UTD, Hand sanitiser and dispenser, Animalia, Mold and Mold Pro lines. Disinfect is a general purpose disinfectant while UTD offers a more powerful cleaning formula.

The company’s Disinfect biocide eliminates 99.999% of bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19. Disinfect also has a ‘no rinse’ claim in food safety, making it suitable for airport food & beverage operators. This means that it can be used on surfaces that come into contact with food without the need to wipe or rinse before use.

Its ethanol-free Hand Sanitiser and Dispenser line is suitable for the general public while the Animalia line is safe for pets and their environments. The ChõraClean Mold and Mold Pro lines also help protect against mold formation.

“Airports have high safety and cleanliness thresholds, and particularly so during these pandemic times,” commented ChõraClean Co-owner Mikkel Bang Sommer. “We are therefore very pleased that both Billund and Vágar airports have chosen ChõraClean Disinfect for their sanitising needs. It speaks volumes about the efficacy of our products.”

Billund Airport’s Cleaning Duty Manager Claus Brandt Thomsen added, “We use the highly effective ChõraClean fogging machines and biocide liquid to disinfect trays used by travellers when going through airport security.

“We’ve partnered with ChõraClean because of their proven track record and user-friendliness. As an airport, we need proven concepts that are cost effective, simple to use and with minimum impact on daily operations particularly during these unprecedented times.”
